Crystals & Energy Healing

Crystal and energy healing has been practiced by a variety of cultures throughout the world - as diverse as the ancient cultures of Egypt, Rome, Greece, India, Mesopotamia, Europe, Sumeria and the Hopi people of America.

In both modalities - crystal and energy healing - practitioners believe that bodies are in a state of wellbeing when their vital energy is in homeostasis (or balance.) Advocates of these healing modalities believe that a living creature’s energy field extends from their visible body and can be felt, and interacted with by those around them.

This ancient belief is somewhat echoed in the scientific study of the vagus nerve in polyvagal theory. Polyvagal theory stresses the importance of coregulation (reciprocal bonding with others as a means of calming) as well as tuning into the body’s natural voice (interoception - the internal sensations the body uses to communicate a need to the mind such as hunger, happiness or exhaustion) to continually return the nervous system to a place of safety after stressful events.

  • Crystal Healing

Crystals are beautiful, naturally occurring minerals or fossilized resins which are found in the earth. All things in our universe resonate, or vibrate. In 1880 physicist, Pierre Curie discovered that applying pressure to crystals such as topaz, tourmaline and quartz created electricity. This is now known as the Piezoelectric effect, and is the reason crystals are used in technology such as iPhones, TV screens and satellites today. Practitioners of crystal healing believe that specific crystals can channel energies into areas of the body for particular effects. All crystals used by INDIRA are ethically sourced and cleansed (in both senses of the word!) after each client. The practice is hands-on and hands-off, light work.

  • Seichim - Energy Healing

Seichim - pronounced SEY-SHEEM - refers to the life force within all living creatures. The energy healing modality, Seichim, aims to channel this energy through the touch of the human hand. The practice of Seichim is often thought of as a symbolic feminine - or yin - style of healing: something soft and nuturing. This is not to say this treatment is for women only, as the goal of a treatment is to balance the body. As we live in a world that functions very much in the yang - or symbolic masculine - all genders can benefit from opening up to the symbolic feminine or yin. Treatments are non prescriptive and are responsive to what the practitioner intuits from their client. The practice is hands-on, light work.

What are chakras?

Chakra is a Sanskrit word which can roughly be translated to mean wheel or disk, and refers to 1 of 7 energy centers along the central line of the body that correspond to specific bundles of nerves and organs.

Various energy based healing modalities believe that chakras channel the vital life force of the body, and that this energy needs to be kept in motion.

Sites where chakras are located are often the same sites that physical sensations of emotions are experienced.
